The Hyper-Femme Sneaker Trend
Traditionally, sneaker culture has been predominantly associated with men. Over the years, men have reveled in a wide range of offerings, leaving their female counterparts with limited options – often receiving hand-me-down versions of men's products in more feminine colors. However, there is a noticeable shift as an increasing number of women's designers are now entering the sneaker culture, breaking the mold and expanding the options available for female sneaker enthusiasts.
This year, names like @simonerocha_ and @ceciliebahnsen have envisioned a completely new vision for sneakers. Bahnsen’s collaboration with @asics fuses elegant floral patterning and feminine straps with a technical prowess. She reveals that it was the style of the girls in her atelier and community that inspired the capsule, specifically, ”how they style the collection for everyday wear, often pairing a big poufy dress with denim and trainers.”
@salomon is another label that has been opening the doors to its archive to a growing roster of female designers. Collabs with brands like @commedesgarcons has helped completely reimagine Salomon’s products outside of the gorpcore realm.
